Who is Island Market Foods?

Island Market Foods and its counterpart, Vashon Thriftway, are committed to offering our customers a positive online shopping experience. We're not just a virtual store operating out of some obscure warehouse. We're a real supermarket that has been serving the Vashon Island community in Washington state for several decades. Now, we're offering the same unique product selection and superior service to customers throughout the U.S.

We have three fundamental principles to our online business that are the cornerstone of our operation.

1. Top Quality - every product online has been hand selected by one of our food experts who is knowledgeable in that particular product line. We don't sell run-of-the-mill items on this site. You can get those at your neighborhood supermarket. Instead, we survey the world for the very best products and the best value.

2. Dependable Order Fulfillment - nothing is worse than placing an order online and it never arrives. We've had the same experience ourselves. That's why we hand process every order in the store, allowing you to get the same dependable service we give our in-store customers every day. We would expect nothing less ourselves.

3. Customer Satisfaction - Vashon Thriftway is known throughout the Pacific Northwest for its fervent dedication to superior level of service and customer satisfaction. It is a principle that has set us apart in the marketplace and we won't offer you anything less in an online market with our name on it.



Is it safe for me to enter my credit card number when I place an order?

Yes. All order information is processed through our secure Shopping Online Web server. This security scheme scrambles all information before it is sent over the Internet and also makes sure that you are sending it to the right place.

When you enter your credit card information on the order form, the encrypted information is automatically transmitted to a credit card gateway for online credit card approval. It's really no different than having a waiter swipe your credit card in a restaurant. The process is virtually the same. Both use standard phone lines, encryption coding and authorization processes.

Once your credit card is validated, we receive an authorization and process the order.

Your credit card information is encrypted throughout this entire process and this system is very secure. You need not be concerned about someone accessing your credit card information.



What about privacy issues? Will you share my name, address and e-mail address with the world?

No. We consider information about you strictly confidential and do not make it available to anyone outside our company. Once your order is placed, your order information remains on our server until it is accessed by our Order Fulfillment Specialist via a password protected process. The order is then printed out and deleted from the system to further protect your privacy. Once printed out, your order is processed in our store the same way it would be if you shopped on-site. It is not retransmitted over the Internet to a third party for payment.
